5 Ways Technology Has Changed Entertainment

Post by Rob Grasso

It’s a no-brainer that technology has changed the entire world. And almost every industry has become faster and more efficient because of tech advances.

One of the things that has changed dramatically since the advancement of technology is the world of entertainment.

The Television Industry

Besides the obvious fact that we now have colored TV, television has gone through some drastic changes. In just the past few years, television is nothing like it used to be.

For example, it’s hard to find a TV that supports VHS tapes now that we’ve moved on to newer alternatives. Blu-Rays used to be something rare, but now, this is the most common physical format for consumers.

The most noticeable change that the television industry has gone through is the decline in using regular cable. With cheaper alternatives to cable tv, like Netflix and Hulu, it’s understandable that more and more people are “cutting the cord.”

Gambling Online Instead of a Casino

Some adults turn to gambling as a means of entertainment. Unfortunately, most people don’t live in cities with land-based casinos. Places like Las Vegas have endless options for these establishments, but most people don’t have time to travel down to the desert for some gambling.

Online casinos have changed the game, and that’s all thanks to technology!

There are many reliable sites that offer real money gambling, and most gamblers prefer this alternative to driving to a casino. Even those living in gambling capitals are finding gambling online to be a better fit for them.

Technology has really improved the graphics for these online gambling sites, so be prepared to be stunned when you first see the graphics on these casino sites.

The Way People Listen to Music

The days of having to carry around your stack of CDs are over, but it makes for a great nostalgic memory. Now, there are apps available for mobile download that allow you to take your music with you everywhere you go.

Back then, unless you owned every single CD or tape, you could only listen to one artist at a time. With the way technology has brought forth various apps, users have the ability to create playlists from a massive selection of artists. From major musicians to indie bands, today’s apps give you the perfect tool to curate your tunes.

Reading Is More Convenient

Similar to music, being an avid reader used to require some arm strength. Carrying around an entire library of books wasn’t the most ideal for bookworms, and the industry took notice.

Technology allowed for the creation of e-books which, in turn, birthed tablets that made reading more convenient.

Through these devices, you can download several books. This makes it easy to flip between different types of literature. You can go from reading the New York Times to reading the Harry Potter series with just a touch of a button.

Video Games Look More Realistic

Video games are one of the most common forms of entertainment that people turn to across all age groups. No one is ever too old for video games. In fact, this industry has only gotten bigger over the years.

Just a few years ago, the world was introduced to Virtual Reality (VR), and video games haven’t been the same since.

If you haven’t tried VR yet, I recommend you try it as soon as you can. This will really put into perspective just how much technology has changed entertainment. Be ready to enter another dimension once you put the VR headset on.

VR has allowed video games to look more realistic. The high-quality graphics will frighten you.

Technology has played a big role in the growth of many industries, not just entertainment. Yet entertainment is where you’ll notice it the most.

Next time you’re doing something, stop and think if your favorite activity would be the same without technology.
